Is stomach soreness normal w/ fibro?

Has anyone ever experienced lower stomach soreness with their fibro?  I was diagnosed about 2 years ago.  Any physical activity causes soreness in my lower abdomen and feels just like I've been punched.  Any suggestions?

Thats o.k, here whenever you want to talk or PM.

I hope your tummy soreness gets better but if it does not do go and get it checked out with your doctor.

Take Care

Definately before the pilates.  I haven't been able to exercise for awhile because every stretch and move was too painful all over.  You're probably right about the proper training.  I can't really figure out how those women move like that anyway!:)
Thanks for taking the time to talk to me!

Hi

I would say its muscle soreness either from the pilates or its a problem with your bladder or a gyni problem.

I have IBS and i notice the difference between that and muscle soreness or gyni problems which i have and causes me a soreness and stabbing in my lower stomach.

I would get proper trained advise on doing pilates as you could injury yourself, did the soreness come on after or before the pilates?

Thank you all for your suggestions.  The pilates I've been doing are on a tape.  Granted I'm definately not the most graceful person in the world, but I'm trying! :)  At least my kids get a good laugh out of it.:)LOL
Anyway, doesn't IBS cause stomach upset?  The pain I feel is more like a soreness instead of an upset stomach and I can eat pretty much anything I want to.  My Granny has had IBS for years though.  Any thoughts?

Hi

It depends where it aches? does it ache after sex because of the activty? or is it like a dull ache in the pelvis area? do you think it might be a gyni problem i think mine is as i have a dull ache and sharp pain on my right side all the time and worse after sex but then i have also had bleeding non stop for 6 mths so they are doing a scan on me.

The pilates is ment to be a great exercise rountine if you can keep up with it, but do you follow a video at home or do you go to a class if you go to a class is the teacher aware of your condition as you could be doing more bad then good you need to gentally work up to exercise and let a trained professional like a PT or a fitness teacher.

It could be IBS i get that but thats more of a cramping then a soreness, i would go to your doctor and check it out as it might not to be with the fibro at all and its important not to blame everything on fibro as we might miss something important in our heatlh, thats the trouble with this condition as your body is screaming out pain all the time (well my is) and its hard to notice when something else comes along if its different form fibro.

Good luck and keep us posted. hope this helps.

It sounds like Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Verry common in people with IBS. It is spasms of the colon and can be extremely sore. Try Buscopan from the pharmacy, it's the only thing that works for me! Good Luck!

I've started to do pilates.  My abdomen kind of aches off and on all the time, but especially the day after my husband and I have sex.  I haven't noticed a big difference in my soreness after exercise.  My legs are usually where I suffer for that.  What do you think?

Hi

I've been going through tests for over a year now and just before December last year the neuro said i prob have fibro but i still have to have this confirmed.

I get lower addominal pain on my right side i cant decide if it is to do with my painfull right hip or gyni probs i have or my ibs though it feels different then ibs.

I get a very sore muscles in my tummy on exercise and i dont really exercise as i'm in too much pain but even simple streches will leave me in pain in my tummy and other muscles.

What type of exercise are you doing?

I have recently started to have soreness in my upper abdomen and now it is spreading to my lower stomach. Have you had the dr rule out a UTI.  One night my husband so upset he took me to the ER. They ran every test possible from a CAT scan of my kidneys to a urinary test to make sure it was not a UTI. when I called the dr. about it, he felt it was just my fibro. I still have my doubts, but I am letting it play out.

Good Luck and God Bless,

Barb
