I've had fibromyalgia for close to a decade, any help please.

I've tried so many things I can't even remember what's what. I'm currently having a huge setback with fibromyalgia and am losing all hope. I have pain in legs, arms and head. I can't think or move without suffering. Anyone have any new ideas, please?  I am 46 yrs old and my life is passing me by.

Hello and welcome,
This beast is rough for sure. No need to explain away the fibro fog- we all have it! :) Thanks for joining us. So what have you tried? We all have lots of ideas. I'd suggest popping into some of the discussions and seeing what everyone is talking about, or let us know what we can help you with specifically. We are glad to get to know a new face!

Dusty is right -- I put my toaster in the fridge last night, so the fog is here to stay!  I've had fibro since 2002 and lately my pain has become worse and more frequent - not sure why.  What meds if any do you take.  Do you stretch or do any exercise? Vitamins?  How is your's treated?  Let us know, there are tons of people who do different things and maybe you will find the right combo - Sorry you've suffered for so long....I swear it's in the chicken :)

Re: Fibromyalgia....
Go and have your vitamin D level, especially vitamin D3, tested.
I have been going to the doctors for 2 1/2 years with a complaint
that I have not felt well. They tried putting me on anti-depressants which I refused to go on!!!
2 months after my last period I went down hill energy wise. Coincedence....It was in the fall when I kept complaining to my doctor that I was so tired. He was useless. So while I was at the gynecologist I asked him to do a test for CFS. He looked at me as if I were nuts. He called me back 2 days later.....I was positive for EBV.At the age of 53!
That was 2 years ago and I am getting worse every fall. Every fall???
Just had my checkup with my gynecologist again and told him how sick and tired I was with this Fibro thing. His medical assistant stated that her fiend had fibro and was vitamin D deficient. Just had my pysical with my regular doctor and had to tell him to do a Vit D test! It came back deficient!  19 ng/Ml  Whoa...... the pieces fell together. Ask your family doctor to do a Vitamin D test on you every year for the rest of your life!
I have not had a tan in about 3 years. Last summer I would be out in the woods with long pants on. Was happiest and felt good just 3 summers ago while swimming 2- 3 times/wk at a neraby pool. So I am now on Vitamin D3 ( sunshine vitamin) I found at Costco. My thyroid is fine even though I have masses in my thyroid. Biopsies were benign. I also elected to put myself on a generic antiviral for 6 months. Fibro may be a retrovirus and a combination of medical factors. So get get your Vit D level checked! 20 minutes a day in the summer, May - September in the Northern hemesphere, produces 20,000 IU of Vit D3!  Food alone does not provide enough D.  Forget the doctors. This is something we women have to figure out ourselves!!!

Don't feel bad. I opened the freezer door and found a head of lettuce frozen in a plastic bag in there!  Gee, how could I have done that?

Hi, I have horses too, I also have a personal kennel and train & raise German Shepherds (hence GSDgirl).  I also had Hepatitis C which I treated with interferon and ribavirion (nasty drugs).  That was 2 years ago and I have not felt well since and a year before I treated.

I have been thru all the many tests and doctors.  Gabapention seems to be helping, 300 mgs 3x a day.  The occasional soma or tramadol also help.  I do not take vicodan because of the tylenol.  I started a thread  a few days ago because I was not taking my gaba as I was perscribed and my legs really started aching.  I did not get any answers or help but I hope you do.

It is hard to do all that needs done with the animals when one feels  like crap but we do what we have to do for the animals.

Good Luck......PS, Nice Horses!!!!
