Rx: Suboxone for pain w/ Fibromyalgia? Anyone taken & how did it work 4 u?

Neuro doc called in Suboxone for my pain. I have been diagnosed with FM & TMJ. They are thinking I have an autoimmune disease that is being overlooked with a sever sleep disorder, and possibly MS. I have been taking Tramadol and it's just not cutting it! Has anyone had any experience with Suboxone, good or bad? Does it work well on fairly severre pain? Thanks in advance for the advice and answers!

I have found that taking Essiac is what helps Fibromyalgia better than anything else.
When I have a flare, however, only Naproxen seems to take the pain away.  I hate taking NSAIDs, however, because they can cause Osteoporosis. (Catch 22).
Many are taking Lyrica and finding that it helps. (I can't take it as I am allergic to it).

There are always new meds to try.  See your doctor.

suboxone can absolutely be used to treat Fibro.  when i was diagnosed my doctor and i tried many different meds that didnt give me much relief.  then we tried tramadol.  that worked amazing for a few months.  i would only take one or two a day.  then the relief began to fade.  so i took more.  and more.  and more.  until i was taking way too much.  i tried to stop but the withdrawls along with the fibro pain was unbearable.  i had withdrawls for a week and it never got any better.  i was in complete hell. i couldnt stop on my own so i entered a 7 day detox program.  while in there they started me on suboxone treatment, along eith a few other meds for the fibro.. lyrica and cymbalta.  after i was released they stopped the suboxone and i noticed that about half of the discomfort came back.  i went for a follow up visit with the doctor 2 weeks later and told them that i was having more pain then when i left detox, and she put me back on suboxone.  ive been on it for 2 years now and its done miracles for me.  it typically keeps me pain free for several hours without the fog and heaviness of opoids.  i know the original post is several years old, but it sounds like you had an allergic reaction to the suboxone.  thats not a normal reaction.  and it most definitely can be used to help fibro.

Why in the world would suboxone be prescribed for Fibro? Fibro has shown in MRIs that there is less activity in the opiate receptors area of the brain. Suboxones job is to stop the opiate receptors from accepting opiate and it stops the withdrawals. If anything it would work against you. Doctors dont know there *** from their hands anymore. I wish they would stop listening to these reps and would just start reading and caring again. These reps have no clue about meds and docs have way to much faith in them.

I did Suboxone for about 3 months in an effort to come off of 15 years of daily Percocet pills.  I was surprised at how it worked. It did help with the withdrawls.  However, it did NOT help with the pain.  In my reading in other forums on other blogs, it is really only used when you have a person who really no longer needed a C2 narcotic pain killer, but they are addicted to it.  The doctor who put me on Suboxone, did not know at the time that I had RA/AS, or my newest possibility of FMA.  It worked for VERY BASIC AND GENERAL nerve and bodily pains.  Overall though, if you have serious pain issues like myself, I would recommend to look beyond Suboxone.

Cheers!  -  Raun

This is an UPDATE on Suboxone... I had an allergic reation where my tongue swelled, my throat closed and my breathing was really weird... Ended up in ER getting steriod shots. WE (THE PHARMACIST, ER DOC AND I) BELIEVE THE WRONG MEDICINE WAS CALLED IN FOR ME!!!! That medication is to help with withdrawls from codiene or herin, neither of which I have taken!!! I am super mad because I paid 108.00 for 5 days worth of pills that probably weren't meant for me and landed me in the ER with another bill!
