Response from Prof. Nicolson: In teenage cases of CFS or FMS the patients almost always show evidence of chronic infections. These are caused by bacteria, such as Mycoplasma, Chlamydia, Borrelia, etc. and viruses, such as CMV, HHV6, etc. These are quite treatable if identified by your physician, but they can also remain untreated, and these patients never seem to do well in the long-term.
Good for you- stay positive.
Godspeed

Hi Kitty,
I feel for you, especially as you are in the prime of your life. It is a very frustrating thing to have (CFS). No doctor has ever been able to diagnose me as having CFS and some think I have fibromyalgia. If your tests all come back negative then you will begin the vicious cycle of visiting doctors that shake their heads....then refer you on.
Do some positive thinking every morning and any chance you can get. Adopt the law of attraction and tell yourself you are a healthy happy person. I have had my pain and fatigue for over 4 years and it is only since I told myself i was healthy, happy and fit, did my pain start to subside. I know this must sound ridiculous when you are in such pain but it really does help. There are many proven natural medicines that have also helped me and different lifestyle approaches you can adopt.
Good luck, and remember, it does get better.

Hey Everyone! I just wanted to update. I feel the same, and for awhile there, i let it control my life. But now I've decided to put my faith in God,my family, my friends, and my doctor to get my life as close as it can get to where it was a year ago. Thanks for your support!
God bless,

...the MRI can rule out many things ......make sure it is of your brain and entire spine!!
Also have your thyroid checked. I have HAshimotos thyroiditis and the sore, thick feeling throat is common....also I have chiari malformation along w/ fibro.....so a complete check is best. If you have any questions, there are forums on chiari.
Good Luck and feel free to contact me!

I am glad you plan to get a test for mono. Your doctor probably wants to do an MRI because you say you are having severe headaches. An MRI is often used to look at images of your body's organs and structures. An MRI is a simple procedure and nothing to worry about. With your swollen glands, sore throat, fatigue, head and joint aches, I would suspect a virus like mononucleosis or some other infection, but sounds like your doctor is being thorough.

Thanks for the advice, it really helped me. I havn't gotten that blood test done yet, but my doctor did mention an MRI ... would it be beneficial? Thanks
P.S. : What exactly is an MRI? I think I know what it is, but I'm not sure ....
You need to have your parents take you to the doctor to be tested for mononucleosis. It's a simple blood test. All the symptoms you are describing occur with mono. I had mono at the very same age as you and had all of your symptoms.
Warm Regards,
