Your Best Brain Fog Memories

A just for fun thread ! What are some of your best brain fog memories ? I guess mine would be talking to someone on the phone and then, in the middle of your conversation with this person, you forget what you were talking about. Let's see... I also will put things in the wrong place. For instance, I put the cheese cupboard and put the cheese grater in the refrigerator. I think I've done that more than once, but I don't remember !  ; ^ )

I have done that a few times, forget what the conversation is all about!  That is so wierd when that happens.
Last week I had the funniest one yet, my rheumatologist is about an hour and a half drive from my home, I went by myself which I usually don't do, after my appt I drove through starbucks and ordered my drink, went to the window gave the girl my money, got my change and left.  I then pulled into the mall parking lot and thought I would just sit there in my car and have my drink and rest a little before I went in, I was already feeling tired and having that feeling where it is hard to focus, so then I go to get my drink out of the cup holder and it is not there, I STILL do not get it, I start looking in the floor thinking it must have fell and now there is going to be a big mess, well it wasn't in the floor, so I start to think I am crazy and that I never went to starbucks, so I then get in my purse because I knew the amount of money I had and when I looked sure enough I saw that the twenty dollar bill had been broke so it was then I knew what had happened, so I drove back and the lady at the window was laughing so hard, I laughed with her but it started to freak me out, so when I got back to the mall parking lot I called my husband and told him what had happened and where I was parked so if I couldn't find my car later then at least I could call him and he would know where it was (he was laughing, but I was serious).
Yes it was funny, but the more these things happen the more I worry how bad will it get!
Anyways, I am looking forward to reading more of these stories!!!!

I've had more than my share of FibroFog moments, geez......lol The one stands out more than any others accurred on my granddaughters 9th birthday. I had gone to the store with my daughter to pick up the ice cream and the last minute things she needed for the party. We got back to her house and I put everything away while my daughter started setting up the party things.
When it was time to cut the cake and get the ice cream out, the ice cream was no where to be found. By chance I opened the oven door and there it was!! I felt so bad, and I tried to cover up my tears but my daughter saw them and hugged me real tight. She told me not to get upset that she does stuff like that all the time( I really started bawling then and started apologizing for giving her this horrible disease and all kinds of nonsence).
My wonderful SIL saved me and all was ok for the party. My hubby had recorded my dramatics and when I started watching how goofy I looked, I laughed so hard. I use sticky notes at times to remind myself where things are, and then forget to remove the sticky notes.

  gentle hugs

Hate to admit it, but I haven't really given much time to learn about my fibro and it's symptoms!! I suffer some severe brain fogs but always blamed it on my other diagnosis of hep c! The liver no longer processes normally and I'm prone to ammonia build up which also causes ta da ra ta da = brain fog!!!  Wow, does this mean I'm getting a double whammy?? Obviously I need to learn more about this fibro, can any of you suggest the best place to start on this forum? Any help will be appreciated and as soon as I remember a good brain fog story (ha ha ha) I'll share it. bdm92 love your story! LOL LOL

Top 5 Fibro Moments...
I often forget how many times a day I have fed my poor dog...I look at her and ask, "did I just feed you or not?"  She just looks back at me with her head cocked to the side.

I have already been driving and totally forgot where I was driving to.

I have left my purse in a restaurant more than once.

I have forgotten if I have already taken a pill and have taken another one (this can be dangerous).

I went an entire day thinking it was a Wednesday and it was actually a Thursday.

I know I have more, but can't remember them all (no surprise).

I hate it when I can't remember whether or not I've taken my medication and I also always get the days mixed up.

I think the most dangerous (and stupid) thing I did because of brain-fog was immediately clean the burners after I had just removed a pot of boiling water.

One time I was going out to a friends house where I'd never been, so printed directions and left them by my purse so I'd remember. I left and knew I was forgetting something, so came back to look around and see if anything struck me. I saw the movies she'd lent me and grabbed them, leaving again. As I was leaving, I knew I'd forgotten something else, came back, but couldn't figure out what it was, so left again. I got 5 minutes away at least before I realized I'd forgotten the directions... twice.

A funny one, I'm in college, and one time I did my homework twice, forgetting I'd already done it!

Don't feel bad.  About a month ago I bought a couple of boxes of frozen waffles.  Well, I told my son I had bought some and he might have these for breakfast.  The next day I asked if he had waffles for breakfast and he said, "he never could find them"  I asked if he looked in the deep freeze and the refridgerator freezer, "yea", he says.  Well, I looked and looked, wondering where in the world did they go to?  Not to long after I was cleaning out the pantry throwing away old chips, etc,  There low and behold are the waffles !  Yuck !  It's easy to do tho' as you get busy trying to feed everyone and put away groceries at the same time.  But I have spells where I have a hard time talking, as in trying to figure out how to phrase my sentences.  I wonder about myself at times !

I just pulled a good one this morning and gave my co-workers one more thing to laugh at me about.  I walked down the hall into a friend's office and said, "Good Morning...great to see you today".  She looked at me really strange and told me that she had just been in my office 30 minutes earlier to say Hi and ask how my morning was going.  We talked about last night's TV too.  Guess she knew how it was going...VERY FOGGY!

ok...I finally remembered a good one...most embarrassing tho.
I was running late for work...got dress and went as fast as I could....I did not feel well, nothing new, but all around not a good day. So I am on my way to work and my legs were really bothering me....I got to my desk, and had a lot to do, so right to work....after several hours, close to break time an associate came up and asked if I was alright...I said no my legs are really bothering me today I don't know what it is , with that I swung my legs out from under the desk and looked down at them.....well I guess  one open toe wedge and one flat will do it......one navy ...one taupe!
Beat that! lol

Keep them coming !

I have another one. I was walking to the office and I was so brain-fogged that I accidentally walked right into a parked vehicle in the employee parking lot !  I had a HUGE bruise on my thigh and it didn't go away until 6 months later. At the time I still didn't have a diagnosis... but suspected CFS but I just couldn't believe how brain-fogged I was.

I had no idea this forum was available! I'm happy to know that my "brain fog" is a normal symptom of fibro. I've had it for ten years now. It really helps to talk to someone who has it. No one else seems to understand.

What a wonderful thread!  I have found that laughing at my symptoms takes away their power to discourage me.

I teach middle school, and I constantly provide my students opportunities to laugh.  They know that, if they don't write something down, they might as well not tell me.  For a while I was famous for insisting I'd never been given information about upcoming events, and then I'd find post-its in my OWN handwriting.  They have gotten very good at answering me when I say, "What was I going to tell you?"  It's a great exercise for them in creative thinking, and they often come up with the right answer!

I've done all the things you all have listed and more.  Here are my top two favorites...

I couldn't find the telephone.  I looked EVERYWHERE.  Finally, I gave up.  That evening, when I started dinner, I finally found it--in the refrigerator.

This one was costly, but it was still hilarious.  Driving home from work, I took my exit off the Interstate, only to realize I was in the lane to turn left instead of right.  I was so busy laughing at myself for not knowing how to get home that I didn't bother to look in the rearview mirror before backing up.  I did about $5000 damage to the car behind me on the ramp, and explaining my actions to the police officer was not my proudest moment.  I could have seen it as a reason to live in fear of driving, but instead it made me realize I just need to try a little harder than most to pay attention, and sharing the story has brought laughter to MANY people--though probably not the lady I hit!

Life is what you make it!

not sure if I have Fibro/CFS, but brainfog does happen to me! One time i was walking to class and for the life of me I couldn't remember if I was heading to third or fourth period! I finally went to third, and found out - thankgoodness- that I had guessed correctly. another time I couldn't remember how to spell the word "not" (It's spelled N-O-T, in case i'm not the only one who forgot how to spell it .... ;) my friends get a kick out of me sometimes .... I could understand why. lol

My son and I were watching a DVD of the first Harry Potter movie a few weeks ago. I said, "You know, it would have been nice to see this movie and all its special effects in a theater," and my son turned to me and said, "Dad, we did. That's when we took Cameron and Michael (two of my son's friends). Remember? We all had the baggy cargo pants and sneaked in about $10.00 worth of candy."  I do remember them sneaking candy into the theater, but I still don't remember what the movie was.

I'm fortunate to have several dear friends with fibromyalgia.  One day my one friend and I were at lunch and having such a nice "catch up" conversation.

The conversation sounded like this......"What was I saying?" ......I don't know, what were you saying?  Oh anyway.  Did I tell you about the time we went on vacation?  I think you did. UM, Oh, look at that, (out the window) whoa, what was that about.  Well, anyway, what were we talking about?  I dunno, do you remember? Nope, do you LOL and we did this all through lunch, laughed our butts off, and got some valid conversation in .

Neither of us could hold a thought, we both knew what it was, we both agreed lunch was good and we were glad to see each other.

I have MANY brain fog moments...one is putting the MILK back in the pantry and the CEREAL in the fridge !! One of my husbands "favorites" (being highly sarcastic) is not signing the checks or forgetting to put the check in the envelope when I pay the bills...

My main complaint about brain fog is being SO FORGETFUL!!! I have to ask myself...over and over...everyday..."Did I do that?" or "Did I do this already?" My husband will ask me If I did a certain something...I can't remember If I did it or not!!!

It is good to know I'm not alone...and I wish all of you the best in fighting this and hopefully today will be a better day for you!!  ;)

You all are cracking me up!

I just remembered the time I wrote a Drs. appt. on the calendar on a Thursday as "thrs.". When the day came I didn't know what Dr. or what time my appt. was because all that was written on that day was "thrs." the day it was.  I had to call all the Drs. I was seeing at the time to see who I had an appt. with.

Heres one: I was running bath water, but the bath didn't seem like it was filling up with water. I let the water run long enough that there was no hot water anymore. AND the bath still wasn't filling! I was so confused, then I realized: I HADN'T PLUGGED THE BATH TUB! lol I cracked up for about five minutes, then waited for the water to warm up.
