failed artificial disc replacement
BECAUSE THE ARTIFICIAL DISC REPLACEMENT FAILED AFTER 7 YEARS . I HAVE SWELLING,SEVERE PAIN,RASH FROM THE METAL IONS.AND SURGEON SAID HE CAN NOT REMOVE IT CAUSE IT IS TOO DANGEROUSE SO I AM STUCK WIH IT. BUT HAVE METAL POISON FROM IT AND I AM GETTING BLISTERS ALL OVER,FEVER,PAIN,SWELLING REAL BAD AND I AM SCARED I AM GOING TO DYE FROM THIS AND DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO. HELP ME PLEASE?

Allergic reaction to the implant material is a potential complication of artificial disc replacement .The implanted metal alloys release metallic ions into the body especially in those devices with metal-on-metal articulating surfaces. The long-term effect of these ions on the spine is currently unknown. Since it is causing lot of discomfort in you it may need removal. I will advise you to take a second opinion from a spinal surgeon and once it is confirmed that these metal ions are causing these symptoms it is best to discuss it with the surgeon. Removal may be necessary to get relief from these symptoms. I do hope it helps.
