Look up info on RSD,or Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy. It can cause extreme pain in feet or hands, sometimes both, as in my case.  I had previously been diagnosed as having FM, but then things changed in just a week's time August a year ago. The pain was un bearable, and started in my right hand, wrist and forearm. In October, overnight, I woke to swelling and pain in my left hand, wrist and forearm. I had had an episode of extreme foot pain about a year before the hand pain started, in which I woke to pain so severe I had to crawl to the bathroom to avoid putting any weight on my feet. There was also lots of swelling on the bottoms of my feet .And the pain was severe even when I was off of them. Walking felt like walking on broken glass. Radiographs just showed the fluid and swelling. I saw ten different Doctors;from Neurologosts, Orthopedic Surgeons,to Rheumatologists but no one had any answers at that time...(Except to say, with a Sed. rate of 100,which shows inflammation somewhere in the body, that certainly 'something' was going on.) That episode with my feet lasted approximately two weeks, during which time I had to be in a wheelchair,as I was unable to bear weight on my feet due to the pain. It gradually faded after two weeks, but has recurred since that time, although it has not been as severe.(Although, I should note that I see a Pain specialist now and am on a higher dose of pain meds than I was at that time) Now the pain is worse when I first get up in the morning or just standing again after sitting down even for a short time. Cold seems to make the pain worse, and the swelling comes and goes, along with a notable color change to reddish-blue or dusky purple. That color change is most evident in my hands, which turn blue-purple, darkest across the knuckles, even in rooms with air-conditioning. In the winter temps, they feel as if I've frost-bitten them if I'm out for just five minutes...(in weather that would normally take an hour or more to cause such symptoms). I have been diagnosed with RSD. A Stellate Ganglion block last January to the right hand improved the color and stopped the pain for 48 hrs. I sincerely hope you don't have RSD, because it is life-changing, and the pain is hellish and often unrelenting. You didn't mention how severe your foot pain was, however, so I thought I should mention it and let you research it and see if anything fits regarding your situation. Good luck to you.

I have excruciating pain in the feet like a migraine and they even seem to have a pink hue. This occurs when I eat cantaloupe.

I am with you about the freezing.  I have capsulitis in one of my toes...it feels like walking on a spikey marble all the time.  I cannot imagine those cortisone shots without the freezing!

You probably have heel spurs and are experiencing plantar fasciitis (sp?).  It can come and go.  I have it almost constantly.  My feet kill me when I get up in the morning but after I get walking the pain subsides somewhat unless I am on them for a long time.  Never go barefoot!  Try wearing a shoe with a slightly elevated heel (like wedge flipflops).  Flex your feet about 15 times before you get out of bed.  Also you can get cortisone shots at the podiatrist that help alot but make sure they freeze your foot before they give you the injection.  Maybe these suggestions will help.  Rolling your  feet on a frozen bottle of water can help with pain after a long day on your feet.  Connieb1953

No my feet pain stays.  Like I said before it seems to go in cycles.  The pain lasts for quite a long time.  They haven't hurt for probably a year.  I was hoping that it had gone away forever, but no such luck.
Thank you for your response.

I have the same problem with my feet........the pain isn't with me all the time....comes and goes. It does hurt to walk so when it happens if at all possible I HAVE to get off of them. The pain leaves as soon as i sit or lie down....is that the way it is for you too??

Sorry....I have no answers, still trying to figure it out myself.
