Constant throat clearing

Hi,

I have been having a chronic issue with throat clearing. It usually happens in the morning. As my day moves forward, it usually calms down but mornings are problem. I went to the Doc about this time last year and he told me to take Omeprezole - it helps a little but not all the way. Is there a way to permanently get rid of this issue. The doctor said it was caused partially by stress. I've tried apples, and tried to stick to a low acidic foods but nothing seems to get rid of it. I'll admit I like drinking Coca Cola in the morning. I'd hate to have to give it up. If you have had this problem and successfully dealt with the problem - what did you do?

Hi and welcome to the GERD forum.

Have you tried testing to see if you have allergies or something else going on?
If it is reflux causing your issue your soda in the AM or anytime will not help you rid yourself of the symptoms.

Omeprezole is a proton pump inhibitor....how long have you been on it?

Could be a change in meds like a H2 blocker could help.....but do give the other meds time to see if they will work....and try to avoid your early morning soda routine for a while to see if that helps too.
