52 year old female with Hashimoto’s and possible estrogen dominance. Last summer I developed s dry cough and shortness of breath. In November Doc put me on 40 mg Prilosec one daily and it causes me to feel terrible, anxious etc. we changed to 20mg 2x daily and Zantac 150 1x daily and the cough resolves within a week but I had globus, phlegm, sore throat...typical LPR symptoms. GI doc did an upper endoscopy in January that looked pretty normal with the exception of candida on the 6 areas she biopsies. 2 weeklong
doses of flucanazole seemed to clear up the cotton mouth feeling but the LPR continued as I continued on with the Prilosec and Zantac. 2 weeks ago I met with a dietician and stated an anti inflammatory diet. I have pulmonary nodules thought to be caused by a gluten intolerance and I cut sugar, dairy, gluten corn, soy etc. a week ago I stopped the Prilosec and I am down to one Zantac 150 per day with very few symptoms. I have a hydrogen breath test tomorrow as my GI feels like my problem isn’t LPR and may be SIBO. I have a HIDA scan Monday to check a distended gallbladder seen on a recent mri to check a simple renal cyst. There didn’t appear to be any inflammation or blockage of the gallbladder. Since I got relief from the new diet I ate sugar and gluten for the past day to replicate the symptoms I had before the diet for my Hydrogen Breath year tomorrow. Any thoughts on what might be going on? I suffer from chronic constiparion and have had IBS since I was s teen. I have fibromyalgia and CFS as well. I have felt really good on the diet and will continue it after the test tomorrow.
