Barrets getting worse?

I had a Gastroscopy done during Nov 2009 and Surgeon said that I have Barret's due to LES dysfunction (tummy valve not working or something).  At the time I had no clue what Barret's is and could not challenge him with questions.  He just said that I should come again in 6 month's time for a follow-up Gastroscopy and gave me chronic prescription for Altosec.  And I had a Manopatry done, that was normal.

How will I know if the Altosec is working and what symptoms should I be looking for to know that it is worse?

Currently all symptoms I have:  hoarse voice at times, coughing now and then and constant burning of my throat (I don't really experience alot of acid reflux).

Any feedback will be appreciated :)

Hi I am sorry u r having such a rough time with ur GI issues...from what I understand Barret's is caused by the damage of the acid getting into the esophagus bcuz the LES is working slower than normal....I know that dairy products can cause the LES to go slowly so if u have these issues it is good to avoid dairy especially later in the day.

U should  also sleep on an incline so elevate the head of the bed to help keep the acids in ur stomach.

Diet modification should help along with the meds....many can repair damage, but I do not know much more . I do not have barret's and I pray u get some relief soon.
