Tickle Cough and Chest Heaviness/Feels Hard to Breathe

Hi All,

I am a 46 year old male.  I have been taking Nexium 40mg for several years now.  However, lately I have a severe burning feeling in the back of throat and center of chest and my tongue has been yellow (never had that as a reflux symptom before -- if it is a reflux symptom).  I also have a "tickle" in my throat that keeps me coughing to try to clear it.  Finally, for the last couple of days the center of my chest seems heavy...kind of like it is harder to breathe (though I do not have difficulty breathing).

As added info, I also use a CPAP maching for sleep apnea and am dealing with some prostatitis issues (for which I was given Cipro and an Alpha-blocker.  Not sure of those have anything to do with it.

Is this all reflux-related?  Starting to make me worry and I could use any advice you can give.

The yellow tongue could just be from the GERD but it is something u really need to have checked by ur Dr to be sure it is not something more serious.

Try to keep on the diet and lifestyle that is for those with GERD as it can help u.

See ur Dr and post an update on ur progress : )

I have obstructive sleep apnea.  I have been using the Cipro for a week.  I try to modify diet, but sometimes slip back into old habits.

My main issue is the heaviness in chest and the yellow tongue.  Are those GERD-related?  Something to worry about?

Thanks!

Hi and welcome to the GERD forum.

Hi, how long r u on the cipro? That is an antibiotic and that can cause GERD issues to flare....

Do u know the root issue of ur GERD? Have u modified ur diet and lifestyle?

Which of the 3 forms of sleep apnea do u have central, restricted or mixed...

U may want to look at foods and life style changes u can make to help aid  in reducing some of the symptoms.

Since u have a lot of issues going on I strongly suggest u talk to ur Dr.
