Hi,
My TSH was a little lower than scale. I emailed my doctor to ask if I could stay on the current dosage of med so I can maintain some energy. Her first thought was to lower my med but she contacted a specialist who recommended staying on the dosage for three months, than if I am still TSH low, to lower it by 1/2 a pill a week. I was happy with that and will try to eat more of the protein you suggested. It is so strange to have dry, frizzy hair after a lifetime of normal to oily. Maybe my doctor will consider the protein test if the thyroid is OK in three months. But by that time, hopefully all is corrected.
Thanks again for your replys.
Annie

Thanks for your reply, Selma. My diet is mostly fruits, vegetables, and nuts. Once in awhile I have chicken, very seldom red meat. I contacted my doctor, asking for a protein test. She ordered a thyroid test instead. I am hypothyroid but think that is OK because my energy level has been pretty good. Hope she doesn't reduce my thyroid med, cause then my energy will disappear. I will have the test today, so we shall see.

There r many other ways to get protein....and did u reduce all meat or just red meat?
Eggs, sushi, cottage cheese,tofu,tuna,cheeses....turkey if u will still eat meat just not red meats....chicken, and seafood all good sources of protein.
I have cut back my red meats as they r more diff to digest...and increased my turkey intake...and have not seen a change in my protein levels,
