gall bladder ( bile ) help!

my mum had her gall bladder removed 5th august 07, her bile tree was nicked and she had to undergo a 6hr reconstruction operation to repair. they used some of her bowel to do this. 4 months on she has bile leaking from 3 wounds ( fisulas ) and has to wear bags she lost over 3 stone in weight and now weighs 8 stone. she is very lethrgic, eats minute amounts of food and is not very mobile. i would like to know if this or anything similar has happened to anyone else and how long it took them to recover.
thanks

Use the search engine google to search for 'fistua leakage with bile leakage.' You should be able to pull up a few articles of this happening. It's typically in cases of hepatic resection, but I believe you'll find some reference to gallbladder issues. You may be able to find some information of help.

Have the doc's checked for underlying Crohn's? Crohn's disease can go along with both gallbladder issues and with fistulas. Fistulas also suggest an on-going inflammatory process.

What are the doc's saying?

She shouldn't have bile leakage for this long a period of time. You need to talk with the doc who did the surgery and find out what they intend to do about the problem. Or you need to speak with a doc who specializes in problem cases to see if you can get this taken care of.

The major drawback will be that no other doc will really want to take on another doc's possible mistake, which is going to make things difficult.

If she has fistulas, does she also have some other underlying condition? Or did the fistulas appear after the surgery?
