BLEEDING POOP

Every time I go for a poop, every day or every 2nd day, when I poop, I bleed very red, it seems like a scar that keeps opening.  It hurts like he.. to poop to the point where I'm scared to poop and don't want to, but it's not something I can control.  I have tried different over the counter creams like Anusol, Polysporin (which gives me rash) & my gastroenterologist wants to cauterize it, but doesn't guarantee that it would work.  Because if my poop is too large my scar will open up again.  Does anyone have any new suggestions?

Has anyone suggested giving you something to keep your stools very soft? Perhaps if you kept the stools soft for several weeks the spot could heal and this bleeding could stop.

Hi there!

Well, without a clinical evaluation it would be difficult to determine the cause of your symptoms. Possibilities that may need to be considered include hemorrhoids, fistulas/ fissures, ulcers/ erosions, growths/ masses etc. I am not sure if cauterization would be a good idea in the situation. It would be best to discuss the situation and the appropriate management plan in detail with your treating gastroenterologist.
Hope this helps.

Take care!
