Hi, so at the age of 14 I started having this pain in my lower stomach. Nothing terrible, but enough to go to the doctor. Crohn's and colitis run very strong in my family. At that time the doc told me I was too young for Crohn's to show up in a blood test (?) so I was just given a daily acid reflux medication and that was that. Nothing I couldn't handle so I ignored it & delt with the syptoms, until recently, at 21, my father who has Ulcerative Colitis pushed me to go back to a doctor because it had gotten so much worse. The best way I can describe my stomach pain is a constant burning, unbearable most times, curled up jabbing pain. It almost always would be after I ate spicy food, I had a mental list of things to stay away from. But recently it's been random foods, and the reason I'm posting today is because it's happening and I haven't eaten anything. It lasts for about an hour or two, always lower stomach kinda where you'd have mestrual cramps, and physical activity and stress worsen the pain. It also feels like i have to make a BM but i never do, not constipated i just cant. The doctor I saw did every test, no celiac disease, the colonoscopy came back as, "my intestines are inflamed and the iliac (sp?) Part of my colon is larger than usual but no ulcers, however it looks consistent with Crohn's." So, follow up CT scan. The results from that were "nothing wrong with you, you're just constipated". What?!? I stopped seeing that doctor. I felt like I was getting the run around. There's no way pain THIS bad is "constipation". I have a high tolerance for pain too...it brings me to tears. I've been "managing" my symptoms for 7 years. Please, any insight?
