When I eat meat, I throw it all up, undigested, hours later. Why?

For the past 2 years I have had trouble digesting meat (beef and pork). If I eat it for lunch, I am usually too full to eat dinner, so it's manageable. However, if I eat meat for dinner, even an early dinner at 5pm, I am unable to digest it by the time I go to bed (10-11pm). When I do go to bed, I wake up at 3am and experience such severe discomfort and nausea that I go to the bathroom and throw it all up. I throw up chunks of what looks like undigested meat, and it hurts my entire chest, stomach, and throat as I throw up these chunks of meat. Even after I finish throwing it all up and there is nothing left, I still feel nauseated and the nausea lasts for a couple of days. I tried going to the doctor and she told me it was heartburn, so told me to take antacids like Tums or Peptobismol, but nothing has worked. What should I do?

this isnt an answer, but if this only happens when you eat meat. just dont eat meat. It is the hardest thing for a human to digest. Stick to poultry and fish which are better for you anyway. but if you must eat meat (which i highly recommend you do not) get a good digestive enzyme. I suggest Digest Gold.

Hmm, based on your details, I would probably give an F as in Fail to this doctor.
Antiacids are contra-indicted, when the patient vomits undigested food, when Gastroparesis has not been considered.
And since I don't have all the details and you had no tests,
Gastroaparesis has to go on the back burner for now.

It might be actually the lack of acid and/or digestive enzymes  causing this. Anti-acids would make it worse in this case.
Try Betaine HCL, which boosts gastric acid levels, for a few days as a challenge. If you feel better, it is a very strong indication that your gastric levels are indeed LOW.
But avoid meat for a while unless the following is considered:
In the event you are not producing enough protease-an enzyme that breaks down proteins and peptides- you would need to also take a potease supplement (proteolytic enzyme)
So, you can do a challenge taking both Betaine HCL AND
proteolytic enzymes.
After doing this challenge, let say for a week and still not feel any improvement, then you must get some tests ordered in order to rule out gastroparesis.
In the end, if it is gastroparesis, the doctor will prescribe medication and you will likely benefit a lot by modifying your dietary habits, like  eating six small meals  a day vs 3 meals
and perhaps ingesting softer foods, if your symptoms are severe.
Best wishes,
Niko
