Doctors and hospitals don't mention anything about them being responsible or it quite possibly could be inflicted on you by them!

Why is the medical community not addressing the issue of faulty colonostopy practices and warning the public about contacting the disease from infected instruments during and after that procedure? What can I do to file malpractice charges,to protect myself and others? How can the white rob of silence be broken and made responsible and held accountable?I always kept a high fiber diet.I turned fifty, decided  to get colonostopy. Was in great health before and now my immune system is ravaged.Yes people the doctors don't even mention to you the pitfalls of what could happen if it went bad. It's all about, you got insurance come on in so I play with my dirty tools.Let my nurse put I V'S  in without gloves and all the while she is digging in her pockets to pull out snacks to eat.At the main city hospital everyone is turning the other cheek. My question is how many will suffer or have suffered? This just one hospital of how many hospitals nationwide and I am just one patient out of how who will get a colonostopy.

It might be noted that nurses wear gloves while inserting an IV for their protection, not yours. Not wearing gloves and using those same unprotected and presumably from what your saying, unwashed hands, to consume food would be putting the nurse at a huge risk of contracting some form of infection.  This is ridiculously risky behaviour on the nurses part.

Hope you can resolve your issues without too much more stress.

I realize you are very upset about what happened to you and I am sorry for this.  However, you need to realize that you are in the minority.  Colonoscopies save so many more lives than those they might worse.  Most doctors are doing things correctly.  Most doctors are using sterile equipment and most nurses are not eating in the operating room or not using gloves.  I'm not saying you shouldn't advocate for yourself or others, but also you should not go making assumptions about every doctor.  If you would like to discuss this further, you might want to post on the medical ethics community: http://www.medhelp.org/forums/Medical-Ethics-/show/684.  If you would like to discuss your symptoms and what treatments/tests you should have, then the gastroenterology community here is the correct place to post.
