Gallstones and enlarged liver

After having discomfort on my right side under my ribs for almost 9 weeks now, I finally had my ultrasound scan which revealed gall stones and an enlarged liver. Not worried about the gall stones. I guess I will need them removed. The enlarged liver is another issue. I know both organs are very closely linked but would having gallstones necessarily cause the liver to enlarge? My GP could feel it on examination which is why she referred me for the scan. Blood tests have come back clear which is some what reasurring.I am tea total and have never smoked .My weight tends to fluctuate. At the moment I am overweight by about 2 stone but otherwise healthy. Cholesterol test are borderline and no issues with diabetes. Medications include HRT.

Thanks!! Looking forward to your relies.

After cholo thought be end of problems but no still have pain however nausea not as bad but have be careful what i eat  Recent ultrasound found area of 2.7cm undefined but different to ultrasound 6 months ago   My locum gp said he wanted an urgent ct scan to rule out cancer.  I had the worst time of my life and didnt know which way to turn  . my liver results have always turned .heads and ive been asked if I am an excessive drinker  I like a drink but not excessive.  I had head pain behind my nose and was convinced I have liver cancer which had spread to my brain ,  Im 49 have two daughters and a 2nd husband of 2 years  I had a clear brain scan no idea what was wrong and now a clear liver scan apart from fatty liver and a large blood vessell which was my unidentified area which i was tole not to worry about.  Why is it there,  why am i im so much pain every day in my upper right rib and lower right back and feel sick most days.  ??  a mystery.   Ive decided i have to go woth the 'experts' and im happy that its not anything more sinister now.  But why do I feel so ill ?????

Hi!
Thanks for that. I'm hoping that's the case but you can't help wondering if there is anything more sinister going on and it will be a week before I get back to the GP for the results and confirmation of further treatment. Will let you know.

when i was diagnosed with gallstones (was turning yellow at this point) my liver was enlarged (could be felt on palpation) the swelling was caused by a obstruction ... the 2 things can be linked.

let us know how you get on
