Gastro Follow-up

Going back to my Gastro for a 60 day follow-up after Colonscopy and Endoscopy, AB CT scan.  Still having minor ab pain that seems to move around and abnormal (for me) bowel movements any suggestions on questions that I need to ask my gastro or addtional testing that might need to be done?  Have had the H. Pylori and no ployps.

What exactly are your symptoms, where the pain is located, diarrhea, bloating?

Why you had those tests?

you helped me on the first go-around with this remember I am the one that the only thing that could be found was EBV,  still have minor ab pains and irregular bowel movements.  My Gastro likes to see pat. 60 days after the procedures, dont really have any idea what else to ask him or test to ask for,  like you said last we talked if it was the big C they would have likely found it with the procedures that were done.

Colorectal cancer grows either as a sessile or polypose tumor, very rarerly as a diffuse form. Since all these types are localized to a small area, and in early stages don't invade deep into colon wall, they, except bleeding and some mucus often cause no symptoms at all (no tyo+pical indigestion problems, diarrhea, gas or so). In more advanced stages this cancer has progressive course which seriously affect the body and goes with obvious symptoms including weight loss, pain etc. It is not likely that GI misses a cancer during colonoscopy.

You can ask your GI
- is any possibility of lymphoma, according to his experience (lymphoma mostly occurs in small intestine)
- does it make sense to do a hydrogen test with fructose for fructose malabsorption. If you don't have diarrhea or obvious bloating he might refuse this test, but FM can go with constipation also.

What are your current symptoms - exactly?
Can you safely eat these foods:
- wheat
- onions
- dates, prunes, peaches, sweet cherries, apples, pears
- fruit juices
- honey

Any news about EBV? I will be of little help on this topic.

Abdominal pain in general may be caused by
1. disease of particular organ
2. infection, like food poisoning, or bacterial overgrowth (small intestinal overgrowth (SIBO) or clostridium difficile overgrowth
3. bloating = distension of stomach
a) upper abdominal bloating is mopstly due to H. pylori inf, it goes with heartburn, early satiety and burping.
b) lower abdominal bloating goes with gas, and is mostly caused by lactose intolerance or fructose malabsorption, often goes with diarrhea
4.painful intestinal contractions, usually from constipation, or rarely (and much more severe) from intestinal obstruction.

So, which of these descriptions you think fits with your case most?

What exactly you mean with abnormal bowel movements?

Bentyl is used in constipation to relax intestinal muscles. you'll see, if this will help or not. If not, diet may be a problem.

If you'll have a low-fructose trial, make it strict, otherwise it won't show much. It takes only few days, you should exclude anything containing
- FRUCTOSE: all fruits, fruit juices..., tomatoes, carrots, and honey
- SORBITOL:  in "sugar free" chewing gum or "low-calorie foods"; also avoid what contains other "POLYOLS" - check labels
- fructans (wheat, onions, artichokes, asparagus, chicory; on labels they appear as INULIN or FOS or OLIGOFRUCTOSE)

For details, check my journals.

I think out of all you have listed number 4 is the most like me,  On bowel movement change I do still go mostky ever day or two but not as much and smaller than before, no blood or mucus  the minor pain are mostly below the belt line but will move evry so often

I am having severe hunger pangs. I had just had lunch an hour ago and am still very hungry. I am going through a cheesecake as we speak but it does not seem like any of the food is going into my stomach. This has been happening for a week now. Prior to this, I would go to the toilet once a day - each morning.
But now, I feel like going two times once in the morning and once in the afternoon. I am 27years old, a female and doubt very much that I am hungry.
No matter how much I eat, I cant seem to make this feeling go away.
My diet has hardly changed.
Any idea of what the problem can be?
I wake up in the middle of the night and feel so very hungry and I get restless. Its too big a job to cook up a feast for myself because thats what it feels like I can eat so I just wait it out restlessly until morning breaks and I go to the toilet as usual and the pain gets lighter then it comes on  again strongly about two hours later.

Start new thread and answer:
1. Are you craving for sugar? How has your diet changed?
2. Do you experience dizzines (like before you faint), weakness, anxiety..?

It may be:
- dumping syndrome
- postprandial (means after-eating) hypoglicemia
- fructose malabsorption, small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO), (these two go with bloating) or candida overgrowth in the colon (the latest goes with brain fog, rectal itching).

Lyme is transmitted by tics...which live in woods. It's a test, done by infectiologist, for Lyme disease. Lyme is caused by bacterium Borrelia and it occurs in more phases, which can be months/years apart.

About EBV. Can you give me a time course of this issue again? When antibodies were found, when did you have last test, and which exact antibodies were raised (IgG, IgM...). I'll try to contact one microbiologist expert.
