H pylori and Gastritis pain and treatment.

Hi,
My father has had abdomen and back pain for over 2 months. The pain he describes is soreness, tenderness, burning and stabing like sharp pain in his abdomen and back and sometimes in his side. He had bloodtests, ultrasound,ct scan and finally endoscopy with biopsy. The ultrasound and ct scan just found fatty liver but the endoscopy did show Acute and Chronic gastritis due to H Pylori bacteria. He has been in sever pain and unable to work some days due to the pain. Also the pain seems to get worse towards the end of the day. He is miserable and frustrated. He had the prevpac which he finished today and is still in alot of pain. He has an appointment in four weeks with the doctor to see if the bacteria was destroyed but i was wondering how long would it take for him to start feeling better? is there anything else i can do for him? we are very worried and frustrated at this point. He is 45 and didnt have an ulcer when scoped and has had no history of gastro problems. i know H pylori is a dynamic topic but any info on experiences or any information on how long before he gets better i would really really appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

Looks like, just like me with my questions, you have to rely on the doctors that are "helping" your dad.
