I had GBP Oct 06, I have lost 110lbs. I was 35 when i had it and weighed 250lbs and was 5'3.5. I was well proportioned but was still overweight. If they do it through lapo (which is how I had it done) it went very well. I have no complaints. If you have any specific questions please feel free to ask. They also have a great website called Obesityhelp.com. That is all that is on that forum. That provided me with alot of answers and help along the way.
Good luck.

My sister-n-law had a Gastric-Bypass almost 4 years ago.  The first days she was sore but your body gets immune to the pain.  She was walking around right after the surgery.  I think the key is family support.  If you have someone with you to support you that is the best comfort you can have.   Many people have the surgery without any complications so that is a good thing.  I had 2 c-sections and they were not bad as I expected because I was so scared at first.  Just think how much better life will be afterwards.  It is so well worth it.

Take care

Hi there! I can see that you're afraid so I thought I'd write. I have never had the surgery you are getting ready to have but I was witness two two ladies who just had it as they were my roommates in the hospital! I was in the hospital last August to get a mass removed and colon resected (which is no small surgery either). My first roommate came the day after my surgery. She was moving a little slow but actually I was moving slower than her! They did get her up to walk several times and I noticed they were giving her a liqued diet like jello. And although she did have some pain, she seemed to be doing great and actually left before I was released! Then my next roommate also had just had the gastric bypass surgery. She also was moving a little slow, had some difficulty getting comfortable in bed (me too) and also was on the liqued diet. I saw a lot of jello during my stay there! She also left before I was released. I was in the hospital for 6 days. My surgery was pretty big too and I won't lie, there was some pain but it was manageable with the pain medication they give you. I didn't know the two ladies so I can't ask how they're doing now but when I was rooming with them and we talked and they both seemed really committed to this. They both understood this would radically change their lives and their eating habits. They knew and understood that they would have to watch what and how much they ate or they could become desperately sick. But they both said it was worth it to finally get all the weight off and they were willing to make the sacrifice.
I'm sure your doctor has discussed a lot with you before agreeing to do the surgery because they won't do the surgery on anyone unless they are ready to make the changes necessary for this to work.
It's normal to be scared before any surgery. Just try and look ahead, past the surgery and recovery and remind yourself that you are doing this for you, for your health and that this time next year you will be a whole new person! Try and keep your eyes on the future and the goals you have. Your doctors will take good care of you. A major surgery like this will have a whole team working with you, monitering you, etc. You will be in good hands!  Write back afterwards when you feel up to it and let us know how you're doing. Take care & God bless.
