Hiccup type burp...or belch..messed up burps...

For 5 years i have been suffering with what i can only call a hiccup/belch. Every time i finish food or even when i have an empty stomach i get this hiccup/burp. It sounds like a hiccup but then gas is expelled from my stomach thus giving a belching noice.
It feels really uncomfortable and when im in public i get funny looks as it sounds very strange.

I had an upper GI endoscopy which revealed a very small hiatus hernia, and also my duodeum was scared from ulcers id had in the past.
Also, about 8 years ago i tested positive for Helicobactorpylori. I didnt finish the course of medication (Heli-clear...side effects were very bad)
I was warned that the bug could return if i didnt complete the treatment.

Im not sure what this problem is!!!

i suppose it could be.....

Hietus hernia .....Do you get hiccup/belching from this ???

Helicobacrpylori  Do you get (as above ^^)???

Scaring of duodeum.. ???

Stress ???

I hope you can help.....someone out there must have similar symtoms...?? or is it just me???

Thanks ...PAul

I'm so sorry to hear of others with this. I know all about this. I've had violent hic-BUUUUURP  hic-BUUUUURPs since I was 29. (49 now).  For me, they sound like BARRRACK!!!!!!!! and the family now replies "OBAMA" - at work I can stifle it a little and don't go overboard with the BARRRACKs.

I do have a sludgy gallbladder with stones. I think that's key. I was tested negative for H.Pylori. My cure?  MAGNESIUM MALATE, Please google Magnesium deficiency and gallbladder problems. Also if you have gallbladder pressure or pain and need a quick fix, LEMON JUICE (the real kind) will help quickly, but it's not the total cure. I only BARRRACK maybe 1x month now. Used to seem like all day long! Being in a car was a major trigger (the bouncing). I used to wonder how on earth anyone could have that much air  trapped. It was ENDLESS.

OMG, Idk why I never googled it before, but I am honestly SO GLAD I'm not the only one!!  I have been doing this for well over 15 years and any doctor I have asked looks at me like I'm insane (because obviously I NEVER do it at the doc's office.)

My family has called me a Pteradactyl for ages and I do sound like one.  We joke that I have dino-genes.

Mine are loud.  My father and my sister have both started doing it on a very small scale.  Theirs are quieter and sometimes just sound like they are taking a sharp breath of air, but  sometimes it's more like a hiccup, but just a random one, not the hiccupS.

I just watched an episode of House where they had an old man with 'the squak' and he said  it's acid reflux and that can be a sign of pancreatic cancer... which my grandpa diedof at age 57, so it made me real nervous and I'm going to make an appt. (also why I'm googling now).

- Mama-Squak (another 'cute' nickname lol.)

Hi, I know you posted your comment such a long time ago, but I just read it after looking up my "Bi-gawks!" as you call them- love it!! Brilliant post! How is your tummy doing now? Everything youve written is exactly how I am too, my husband just calls them the squeakers and my daughter has started coping too! Did you find out what was causing them? Im suffering with the alcohol issue too, it sounds identical to what you went through. HORRID!!
Id love to chat to you about it! My email is ***@**** Thanks again for your lovely post, really made me laugh. Emily xx

At our house we call them "herps" and say that my husband sounds like a Teradactyl! His have gotten louder and more frequent over time and his family that we go to visit once a year have started saying he has Tourette's. He claims they don't hurt but he winces sometimes. But he doesn't have heartburn and comes from Louisiana and a history of eating spicy food. I am concerned about what could be causing this.

I don't know if this will help anyone, but I have had terrible acid reflux for years, I started using baking soda water  after reading a book called  sodium bicarbonate by dr mark sircus,  it has helped my acid reflux immensely, I have even gone off the prescription meds I was on for it. it is also good for you your kidneys produce it and your body needs it. Try it it might help. it will definitely get the gas up.  also read up on salts, you should be using unrefined sea salts, and not the salt you use now, . the salt you use now causes high blood pressure, and heartattackes  the unrefined sea salt your body needs, and it had over 80 minerals in it. also processed foods are very bad for you.
