Low abdominal pain/movement only on waking

For months when I waken up I have movement 'throbbing' in lower abdomen followed by pain - doesn't matter which way I lie. As soon as I get out of bed the pain goes. It doesn't matter if I've emptied my bowel before going to bed, the pain is still there. My doctor has given me Tramadol slow release tablets but I have to take them at 3.00am as although meant to work for 12 hours, they only give me 3 and a half to 4 hours relief of pain (I can still feel the movement/throbbing but no pain). I am being driven crazy by this - can't understand why the movement/throbbing and pain goes as soon as I stand up. Have had bladder/kidney scans and abdominal X Ray which showed nothing. Anybody got any ideas?

My ultrasound was done only on bladder and kidneys. I don't have gall bladder - it was removed several years ago.  I got a letter today to say that the bladder ultrasound had shown my bladder not emptying completely and I have to go for 'telescopic' examination (Ouch! ) under general anaesthetic. I'm not sure if bladder not emptying completely would cause the pain I have when I awake each morning as I don't have the pain during the day. I have to go to colorectal clinic tomorrow but I think I will ask them to delay any tests until after I've had the bladder examination as I don't want to go through the horrors of barium enema or colonoscopy unless it is completely necessary.

have you done ultrasound on ALL stomach organs?
ask your doctors about stones in the gall bladder/liver/intenstine duct.

The pain starts low down right across bottom of my abdomen then spreads upwards to my navel. Pain at both sides and centre.
