Infection with diverticulosis? test to check it?

I have been experiencing the following:  Abdominal pain, serious pain and pressure in the lower rear which hurts when I move, fatigue, feeling hot then cold, lightheaded also.  I had a CT that showed normal organs but read Diverticulosis.  The report also indicates that my gallbladder has been removed (but it never has been).  Upon receiving the report my family doctor's nurse simply read me the report over the phone and has done no follow up care.  I call them begging for help and get nowhere.  I've asked them to check for possible infection and their answer was to schedule a colonoscopy.   Isn't there another way to check for infection.  Feels like someone stuck a balloon up my behind and blew it up there is so much pressure.  I've done some research on-line and find that I have a possible infection and maybe should eat clear liquid for a few days and no solids and be taking antibiotic.   This seems to be unheard of by the nurse.  Perhaps they aren't qualified to treat that, I don't know, but I wanted to know if all of this sounds normal and do these sound like symptoms of possible infection that should be treated without more scans when I haven't had proper consultation after the CT scan, just word for word reading off the paper.  Please comment.

Hi.  I agree with all of the above posts.  I had multiple ( 6 over a 5 month period) episodes of diverticulitis, last fall, that would not respond to antibiotics.  Long story short:  I ended in the hospital over Christmas and had an elective colon resection in January.  I would recommend following up with a GI and a surgeon ASAP.  It has been almost 5 months since my surgery and I am doing much better.  The recovery has not been easy but mine was done lapro-hand assisted and I was only off of work for alittle over 2 weeks.  Not to scare you, but my hubby's best friend's colon ruptured ( no warning that we know of, but he had not been to see a doc in 7 years) and he ended up passing away for the reasons stated above....periotonitis.... fecal matter is toxic and can kill you..... Please keep us posted.

I had diverticulitis about 6 years ago, which could be fatal is the fecal liquid gets into your abdominal cavity and causes an infection (which is what happened to me)! This is nothing to take lightly, and that's why they do a CT to check for diverticulitis and liquid in your abdomen.  GL.

Could be possible food allergy..BUT..I experienced the same symptoms a few years ago and had two diverticulum rupture.  The pressure I was feeling was all the fecal matter seeping into my body cavity which almost killed me.  dont play with this.  If the current medical staff is not up to your standards find someone else NOW!  I'm not trying to scare you but this is nothing to play with.

By all means schedule the colonoscopy. Could be hemerroids, or inflamation. But my mother has diverticulitis also. Sh had svere stomach pain and lightheadedness, hot and cold also. What ended up is that she ate nuts.. for her this is a no no.

taking anything for infection that your unsure that you have, is not always wise.

Good luck!.
