hi, sometimes with pure medication the hernia goes back in place, even by itself sometimes, if in time it does not then the only alternative is surgery, but not surgery in the classic sense, these days its less intrusive and without side-effects, pinhole surgery is the usual tool thats favoured by gps these days, cheers.
Hey, I just joined this forum, and I see your post is a year old. But- did you get the hernia fixed and did the anemia go away WITHOUT the help of iron pills? If not, I'd suggest a colonoscopy because that's where they found a bleeding polyp that was the source of my anemia. My gastro Doc said a hietal hernia wouldn't cause anemia unless it was bleeding, and the only common cause of bleeding/anemia an endoscopy looks for is an ulcer. But the colonoscopy literally saved my life in the long run, and the anemia was a sign.
