Left Lower Quadrant Pain

For a couple of years now I have been dealing with this terrible pain in my left lower quadrant. Some would proabaly think..."contipation", not exactly! Even though I do get my bouts of constipation every now and then, sometimes the pain persists even when I'm regular. The pain is not constant as in every single day of my life, but when it is present it can be very debilitating.

About the pain:

The pain is always on the left lower quadrant. Sometimes it radiates towards the lower back, but more commonly it causes a lack of circulation on the left upper thigh and groin. Usually, it causes left testicular pain...but very little if no swelling.  The pain is exacerbating when I sit or stand for long periods of time. I do both of these a lot... mostly sit. After lying down for an or two it might desipitate a little, but the pain or disturbance is still there.

I have gone to a few doctors who have told me that it's most likely constipation, or that they don't know what is could be. My labs always come back normal. RBCs = normal, WBCs = normal, Hct normal....pretty much everything is normal, occult stool is negative...even though, sometimes I do get hemmorhoids. But for some reason or another everytime I get lab work done hemmorhoids are on vacation. Anyways, the point of the matter is that despite me seeing some doctors nothing has been done about it. On another note, since last yeasr I have been feeling a little hypertensive. One week they took mu BP at school and it was 160/100. It gradually went down during that week, and for that reasonthe doctor decided not to prescribe anything. I still feel like I get frequent hypertensive bouts, but I just try to relax and try to refrain from eating excessive salt.

One thing that I have not done is get a CT scan which I think would be good. Considering it could be a variety of things. Diverticular disease, obstruction, hernia cancer. I don't know. I'm not a doctor yet.

I eat well in quantity and quality. I have not lost or gained weight in the past three to four years. I weigh 195 lbs.. What do you docs think?

Pharoah I think we have similar symptoms  - although my pain isn't what I would call "severe" or even "dehabilitating". My pain is more of a dull or crampy feeling. It feels like a tightness in my Lower left quadrant, but it's not like I've ever felt with constipation before. And like you, I have it even when I'm regular.

My Doc told me same thing - constipation, try some Senokot. I've only taken it twice, but I do still have the pain. He also told me that if it was an obstruction I'd be puking my guts out and hurting pretty bad - so obstruction is probably not likely.

The docs don't check in on this forum.  For a doc's opinion, you have to pay for it on the other Gastro forum.  Have you had a colonoscopy yet?  I'd think that would be the next best step.
