PLEASE HELP

I am a 35yr old mom of 4 and have constipation all the time.  I take fiber and eat fiber to go. I do general manage to go once or twice a day with alot of straining. I will then explode after two or three weeks with loose stools, extreme stomach pain and the stool usually turns to watery stool. I end up crying the whole time due to the pain.. I can take an immodium but then I can't go no matter what for days. I have done the Miralax daily didn't work made my stool so soft I still had trouble passing it if that makes sense. Doc says its IBS but dont believe him, had a Hida scan and 23 different blood test only thing to come back positive was anemia. some please help I cant keep doing this the explosions are physically and mentally exhausting and I feel sluggish from the constipation...any ideas of what could be wrong with me...my husband wishes they could figure it out too I have been suffering for 4 years

I have an appt on the 11th to see a gastro surgeon... don't ask I am really not sure why I have to see a surgeon. But plan on scheduling an endoscopy and a colonoscopy... Today is a really bad day I have gone at least 6 times in 3 hours. I am scared to eat cause I don't know what is going to happen... I am at the end of my rope and i dont have the energy to climb back up. My doctor gave me stool softners for the constipation but this week has been loose all week, today being the worst. I had an explosion about 2 weeks ago and took an immodium and of course that led to nothing for 5 days except bloating and the feeling of carrying a bowling ball in my stomach. I just want it all to go away!!

You don't mention having had a colonoscopy, this should be their next step and should have been done a long time ago.  Try yogurt enriched with probiotics, with the diarrhea, I'm sure you've lost your natuarally occurring bacteria which aids in all this. I became extremely constipated, did an enema, suppositories, laxative...nothing.  Fearing something bad was wrong I booked an appointment with a GI doc and started my regimen of yogurt enriched with probiotics, within 10 days everything was back to normal.  But see a Gastroenterologist for further evaluation.  Also, make sure you stay well hydrated and not just with water.  You are losing electrolytes with the diarrhea, Gatorade, orange juice and bananas will replenish these.  Being dehydrated makes you tired, weak, and nauseous and if it worsens you can pass out from your BP dropping and need to go to the ER.  I think I would find a new gastro doc, this one doesn't seem to know where to look.  I wish you all the best and good luck!

The anemia is from hemoraging in April...I drink water all day everyday and just want some relief I feel awful all the time... Thanks Squirtatious I will try the olive oil/lemon juice thing. I am so tired of feeling like this....I tried holistic doctors and had my energy fixed even tried hypnosis. Doctors don't seem to know what to do take laxatives to go and immodium to stop it..only problem is I dont know what my body is going to do on any given day so making plans is not easy.

Also, push the water as dehydration is a leading cause for constipation.

If your body is low in magnesium that could cause constipation, but then I don't know why you would have anemia. What does your doctor say about the anemia? I don't think that is a part of IBS, yet he believe IBS is your problem. I would mention to him that the anemia doesn't fit in with IBS - or at least I never heard of that connection and see what he has to say. I mean he should be concerned about the anemia or what is causing it as that could be a piece of the puzzle.

Hope you feel better soon.
