The fact that there are recommendations ranging from high to low fiber says that it probably doesn't matter much. Generally speaking, it is wise to avoid high fat foods after Abdominal surgery because they tend to slow down the GI tract at a time that it is picking up function.
They call it Colorectal......the tumor is near the rectum. They surgeon has said basically "eat anything but don't stop for McDonald's on the way home". Problem is........we got searching on the internet and saw all sorts of horror stories about post operative diets and complications.
Need more info than "bowel resection". Is this a small bowel resection or a colon resection? Has the surgeon not addressed any of this?
