H. Pylori Kit did not resolve symptoms

- 31 year old male
- mild stomach cramps for 4 weeks (on and off)
- GP prescribed antibiotic for gastointeritis (not sure what)
-syptoms did not resolve.
-GP sent me to specialist for Endoscopy.
- Specialist saw no signs of ulcers or cancer
-Tested positve for H. Pylori (biopsy)
-he placed me on following combination
1) Amoxycillin Trihydrate 750mg
2) Tinidazole 500mg
3) Omeprazole 20mg

This was prescribed for one week.

The symptoms have not resolved and the specialist says I should continue with Omeprazole for another month and if symptoms do not resolve then go for an ultrasound.

Please indicate whether I should be concerned with his prescribed treatment and recomendations. Could this be something more serious or would definitely be related to the H. Pylori.

Kind regards
Sean

Hi depending on how long  the H. Pylori has been established it can take more than one round of treatment...my father had 2.....

I am not a dr, but after being on antibiotics  they kill off all bacteria even the good ones we need...if u test clean of the H. Pylori, then ask about a probiotic to replace teh good bacteris and see if that doesn't help.

Good luck
