When I eat bananas I get pain in my esophagus that really really hurts. I've gone to the hospital a couple of times. The first time I thought it was a heart attack. This has been going on for over a decade. The bananas can be green, yellow, yellow with brown spots or brown and it still happens. I have been diagnosed with GERD, I have had ulcers in the past, I've had a couple upper endoscopies (which didn't reveal anything except the ulcers) and I went in for a procedure that basically stretched my esophagus. This doesn't happen every time I eat a banana. Previously, I was using medical marijuana and never had a problem, but moved to a very conservative state for work so that is no longer an option. I use Prilosec when my reflux gets bad. My doctor also put me on Flovent after I had my esophagus stretched. This is really painful, and I would like to get it diagnosed. I live in a very rural area and the doctors here are generally very bad, so what should I be asking them to get them headed in the right direction with diagnosing this? What kind of tests do you ask for to determine banana allergy? or autoimmune disorder?
