This is no acid reflux...

Like 6 months ago, I was diagnosed with acid reflux and prescibed prilosec. The thing is my wife had severe GERD while pregnant and her symptoms were nowhere near mine. HEr dr gave her prilosec also and she instant felt better. I still wake up vomiting, gagging, and coughing. I try not to eat as much but it doesnt matter what I eat. When the symptoms first showed  its ugly head I lost 30 lbs in 4 days and I am struggling to keep any weight on me now. I keep going to the hospital but since I don't have cancer or ulcers, it deemed as acid reflux. My primary care doctor even says that what I have. I dont know what to do. I cant keep throwing up and losing weight. What does it sound like i have? HELP!

A friend of mine had to throw up for weeks until they finally checked his blood and he had a pancreas inflammation.

Your medication isn't working, your doctor either needs to increase the amount you take or try a new medication.  With GERD it's all about diet, you have to learn what foods make it worse and eliminate those foods from your diet.  It normally tends to acidic or hot and spicy foods. Elevate the head of your bed so that it's harder for the acid to back up in your throat at night.  I would find a good Gastroenterologist to treat your GERD.......it's not cancer and with the right medication it can be controlled.  My husband went through the exact same thing as you are...choking..gagging...vomiting...pain..They switched his medication and he no longer has any issues unless he eats spicy foods or too close to bedtime.  I truly feel you are okay and your stress and worry are not helping the problem.  Find a GI doctor... as this is their specialty and can help you with this. Best of luck and take care.

Welcome to the gastroenterology community!  What testing have you had?  Sometimes people with GERD have very different symptoms from one person to another.
