What does it mean if a bloody tapeworm came out of my colon?

I'm asking this question for my father (52), but he told me that he pulled an 8-inch tapeworm out of his colon in the bathroom. Obviously he has a tapeworm infection, but what does it mean if it came out bloody? I haven't been able to find anything about this on google.

Hello and welcome to the forum.  Oh my goodness!  That's disconcerting to say the least.  Has he been in touch with his doctor?  I encourage him to do so right a way.  These are treatments for tapeworms. https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/tapeworm/diagnosis-treatment/drc-20378178  They also give complications.  As to why there is blood, I think that can be for a variety of reasons including irritation and infection.  Please have him see his doctor as soon as possible.  Let us know the outcome.
