I wish you had it as easy as me. I got really big pain, got an ultrasound that showed my stones , and then saw a the specialist then got a date for the surgery. It's really stupid that they don't want o help more than this.
I hope as I write you are being prepped to have your gall bladder removed. Usually surgeons can't wait to cut you open - you must have met the rarest of the rarest. Perhaps there was a reason for the delay, in that you mention you had your appendix removed in Oct 2006, perhaps there is still some healing to be done. Whatever the reasons, I hope the surgeon will see fit this time round to remove your pain.
Good Luck!
Well, I'm no doctor, but....
You need to find a way to get that thing out of there. If I understood your GI correctly, he does want your gallbladder out and the surgeon refused? The surgeon's not there to diagnose the problem or even recommend a treatment. He's there to execute it. Ask your GI to select a different surgeon.
In my case, my GI just told me I had to have it out and sent me on my way. I had to call a bunch of surgeons myself to set it up. When I found one whose schedule allowed, I met him and we did it. It was easy.
The difference may be that I went to a GI clinic and picked my surgeon from my insurance's list of providers. If you went to a hospital, I guess it's all inclusive. You could try just calling a surgeon from your list. He'll get your charts from the GI, and you can move on.
I assume you're in the US. This may be completely different in other countries. From what I understand cholecysectomy isn't an emergency procedure, so maybe the NHS or whatever will stall you. If you're in the US or even Canada, you have much more control, I think.
