I had nissens fundoplication last year and my god i wished i'd never bothered. I am unable to get food down as it causes me great pain and feels like it wont go past the point of surgery. I work in OR and know my surgeon whom i am having great difficulty with (call it neglect if you wish). I have been like this since I had it. May have to continue like this. It is not the same for everyone but please consider very carefully the pro's and con's of the surgery.
I have many months infront of me and may have to get a second opinion. It is a complication of the surgery which I am well aware of and there are many others as well. One good thing I dont have reflux now.
Good Luck
my husband had surgery 10 yrs out and his GERD is 10 times worse....
1. Make sure they don't forget to tell you some insurance considers it experimental surgery and will fight paying for it.
2. I have it done in December 2008... no i would not have it done again. I don't believe it solved my problem and only caused more. My Post surgery test suck and now i am sent to major hospitals for more tests and they won't explain why.... cover up. And i know they say abdominal surgery is miserable.... but I would never allow the laproscopic procedure again. Epecially when you are told the doctor had a difficult time.... and then 7 months later you have even more problems. Sorry but i am ready to ask for a handicap sticker my breathing has been so bad since. And xray shows i now have an elevated diaphram. Would never do it again and am amazed I am posting this because i am not a negative person. Would love to hear positive stories... but I can't offer one.
