Weight Gain

Ok you can probably refer me on to the crazy store after this question-but I am very anxious person anyway.

I had my gall bladder out on Wednesday (11/19) and I weighed myself that morning at 135 when I got home I weighed myself at 141.

Yesterday I vomited all day-I have mostly had ginger ale and crackers or dry cereal.  The scale still says 139-140...this isn't the weight gain everyone talks about is it?  This is just from the gas, swelling and bloat right?  Next week I should be back to my normal weight right??

Anyone else as neurotic as I am and weighed themselves pre and post op???

Thanks,

JV

Your weight will vary from day to day, especially after something like this. No, this is not the weight gain everyone talks about. The reason for that weight gain is mostly because now that the gallbladder's out, people think "Oh, it's OK for me to eat all these foods again!" (Pain is usually a deterrent to bad behavior, and a painful gallbladder will force you to eat healthier.) I say "mostly" because there's a second reason: Your body may now be better able to absorb nutrients and calories, thereby making weight gain easy. But eating more "bad" food does the bulk of the damage.
