hey dimdim :)
well in my experience if you go on antibiotics...any antibiotic they totally wreck havoc with your gut flora since they kill all good bacteria (which helps with digesting foods) but the good news is it kills the bad bacteria that caused your UTI in the first place.
On your left side under the rib there's not a whole lot over there that it could be, you've got your stomach, tail of the pancrease, spleen *little higher*, **your colon which makes quite a twist right there**
I remember a user came on the board and she was stressing about maybe having her spleen having an issue and freaking out about how maybe it would have to be removed with your same symptoms, and the doctor said it was trapped gas and constipation due to antibiotics (antibiotics do that)
So what i'd do is up whatever fiber intake you're doing..if you're not doing any you probably should...soon as those antibiotics end hit the probiotics hard in whatever way you want..natural yogurt or pill form..much more water, and maybe take a gas-X pill or two to help and maybe some slight exercise because I have IBS-C due to food allergies..and it hurts I know..even sleeping on that side but my guess is you're having constipation/gas issues and your gut flora is totally out of wack and since this all started with antibiotics that's probably the cause. Soon as the antibiotics stop i'd hit full force so this doesn't become a chronic issue. If all fails go to the doctor for help...
but that's my guess *shrugs* I wouldn't freak out too much unless you're drinking tons of alcohol or taking mass aspirin and your pancreas is yelling at you to stop. My bet is gas/constipation going through the left colon where it twists.
Hope that UTI clears up!
Ah damn I meant the right side. It seems to be getting better though, I'll keep trying to clear myself out with water :) Thanks!
lol..ahhh the right side!
Ahh that's ok.. well on the right side there's gallbladder issues..maybe you passed a stone and didn't know about it, and one way to help your gallbladder is to maybe totally avoid fatty oily foods for a good week or 2 to give it a break. If your diet is super fatty...not healthy then with a combination of antibiotics it could be quite a shock to the system OR liver pain..you've been drinking? Also antibiotics can do a number on your liver. OR like originally thought..could be just plain old constipation and drink water (good for the liver/gallbladder anyway) and hit a little bit of fiber.
I wouldn't worry unless this turns into a chronic thing but I think antibiotics might be doing a number on your system.. even your stomach you can cause ulcers from medication (or chronic use of it) so go natural..take it easy on that stomach and avoid spicey/fatty/oily foods for a bit. Not a doctor but you're welcome! Good luck!
