7 year old - feels something stuck in throat

for the past 6 weeks my 7 year old daughter has felt intermittently that something is stuck at the base of her throat.  We had an xray done and started prevacid for 4 weeks which did not help.  Also feels like she needs to "pop a bubble" in her throat when she swallows and I can visibly she her swallow hard.  Has some anxiety since she was little so ped recommended pyschologist which seems to be helping a little bit but still feeling the bubble sensation.  Also was concerned about choking and dying.  Have appts for GI and ENT but not til next month.  Just wondering if anyone else has had these symptoms.

Thanks

Esophogitis (inflammation of the esophagus) often a result of diet.  Could be auto immune or environmental as well but more likely the first.

I have the feeling of choking and something being stuck in my throat very often.  I was diagnosed with Gerd, having said that Gerd can also lead to other esophageal problems but not to worry she is young and as long as you are persistent with the dr they will find a solution.  Poor girl.  Anxiety will play a big part in it. I have severe anxiety and sometimes I feel like im going to die when it feels like something is in my throat.  Stay strong.  There will be an answer

Has she been checked for esophagal spasms?  This disease often gives the person the feeling of something in the throat.

This is typical with acid refux, and it can take a bit longer for the medication to work.  If the medication doesn't help within the next two weeks, I would ask to try another one.  It is also seen with anxiety, you're doing the right thing with seeing a psychologist.  Just keep reassuring your daughter that it is a "bubble" from her tummy that is making her feel this way, and there is no way she will choke or die. Remind her of how easily bubbles break and go away. I think this is adding to her anxiety which in the end may have started with the reflux.  My husband has it and I see how nervous he gets when he feels like he is choking, so I can see how terrifying this would be for a child.  Acid reflux (GERD) is common in children, calming her fears for now is very important.  I'm happy to see you so proactive with her health!  Take care.

I think doctors are quick to say reflux my daughter is doing the same thing she is 9 ! She will be just sitting down and all the sudden gag turn blue and appear that she's choking - we have had x rays and emergency cat scan and they found nothing - she did the episode again last Thursday we were able to get in to her doctors office at last min where the doctor she saw is recommending a GI doctor and her apt is actually this wed ! My child refuses to eat she had lost 10 lbs in 4 days !!! And will barley drink - says she feels like a ball in her throat and it hurts -  I don't know what to do and feels like her apt can't come fast enough !!
