Inflammatory bowel disease is a collective name for both Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. Actually, if you are mainly constipated (and not having diarrhea) then it is less likely that you have this inflammation.

What you can do:

1. a) Stool test for blood (Hemoccult). Internal bleeding may be the cause of iron deficiency anemia.
b) Later, if hemoccult will be positive, then you may ask for colonoscopy. Mucus in the stool may be from inflammation (inflammatory bowel disease) nad can also cause iron malabsorption and hence anemia.

2. a) Urine culture - test for bacteria in urine.
b) Later, if urine culture will be positive, ultrasound of the kidneys - it may show kidney stones or inflammation.

So, you just start with a stool test for blood (mention low iron and suspicious mucus), and urine test for bacteria (mention occassional frequent urinating).

thanks for them answers thats really helped me .i have tenderness in my sides , spine and back which is there all the time and maybe a little worse when i go to the toilet, sometimes i i feel i need to urinate frequently but thats not all the time. my stools are tanned in colour but i really have to strain to go to the toilet, ive had diarrhea once which started with stomach cramps after eating a meal and ice cream but that was it most of the time i find it difficult to go to the toilet,my stool colur was maybe a little darker not much .my anemia was iron deficiency ,kidney infection was treated with antibiotics but it took quite alot of different ones because they didnt work at first, ive lost about half a stone in  the matter of 3-4 months, ive had itchiness around the vagina but it happens occasionally and ive had a white tongue.my symptoms started last year but i had blood tests in january then i had other blood tests maybe a month an a half later but they were for full blood count , proteins and something else and my iron levels had come up by then but i still had some work to do on my iron levels to get them back to normal, i went to the toilet this morning and when i wiped my bottom i looked in the poo on the toilet paper and there was a tiny little bit of mucus looking blood it wasnt bright red but faded in colour well i thought it was blood anyway. thanks for listening.

Above: when, not where, your symptoms started?

Your symptoms could be from kidney disease, malabsorption in the small intestine or gastro-intestinal bleeding. Can you answer some further questions?

1. Tenderness in the back on bowel movement - would you say this tenderness is in the spine area, or on the sides? Does tenderness goes away after bm or not? Do you feel any burning at urination or you need to urinate freequently?

2. Have you had diarrhea lately, or changed stool color?

3. Anemia - when you had it - was confirmed with a blood work? What kind of anemia it was?  Kidney infection was confirmed? Was it treated with antibiotics?

4. How much weight have you lost and in what time?

5. Have you ever had oral thrush (white spots on the tongue or mouth mucisa), skin itching, vaginal or groin itching, crawing for sugar?

Some explanation:

If tiredness and nausea would be from anemia, then anemia would be clearly seen on blood testing. And, if anemia would be from gastrointestinal bleeding, than blood would be found in the stool with stool blood test (not necessary that blood would be seen with a naked eye).

Tiredness and nausea and weight loss could be from cancer, but **colorectal cancer is extremely rare under age of 40. **Small intestinal lymphoma is also rare for your age. Besides, most of cancers have rapid growth, so in few years your symptoms would become much worse.

Weight loss could be from **malabsorption in the small intestine, but in this case you'd have constant diarrhea.

All your symptoms could be from **intestinal candida overgrowth, if you have any symptom under 5) above. Intestinal candida is hard to diagnose, since stool tests for candida are unreliable. Colonoscopy with biopsy would be needed for this.

Where exactly your symptoms started and when you had your last tests?

Depends. In my country some private diagnostic centers exist, where you can go "directly".

Maybe it can help, if you describe your problem here.
