laceration of spleen after colonoscopy

I had an endoscopy/colonoscopy last week. Within 1/2 hour i was ready to pass out, throw up, etc. 2 1/2 hours later i was sent to hospital in ambulance. Had CT scan. I had a small laceration of spleen and was bleeding internally. needed 2 pints of blood. Came home after 5 days. I now have more pain on left side (more than i did the last 2 days in hospital.) This is EXTREMELY rare. Does anyone know if this is normal to have pain and for how long after? I am going to get blood checked tomorrow. I don't know if i should have another ct scan to see how things are going/ I am out of work for at least 2 weeks and am very angry/upset over all this. Can anyone give some info??? Thanks

I just got home from the hospital. I also have my annual endoscopy/colonoscopy [7th year in a row as my follow up for previous colon cancer] and when i came out of recovery i was screaming and crying so much they rushed me to the hospital. I was admitted the same day and operated on that night. The end result they had to remove the entire spleen as it was damaged [spleen was in four parts and i had been bleeding internally and they had to give me 5 to 6 pints of blood. I saw an article regarding and there are only 50 documented cases where a spleen had to be removed due to an error during the endoscopy/colonoscopy procedure. I would definitely see a doctor or go the the hospital er and tell them what happened. This should never have have happened.

You are very unlucky! My sympathies. To be honest you should get checked - to be sure you have stopped bleeding - you almost certain.ly have though,. If you needed 2 units of blood, you have a haematoma that big inside you. It will resorb but take a long time. It is best if your body sorts it out and it will. another CT is just more radiation! Watch out for infection, you'd  be super unlucky but a haematoma can get infected..if you start to get temps and feel lousy then that  should be considered.
