Do I have irritable bowel syndrome?

A doctor told me years ago that I had IBS based upon the following symptoms.  I have periods of time from 1 day to 1 week when I have loose watery bowel movements with no accompanying pain or bloating.  I have gone for months without this occurring, but have had periods when  it occurred frequently. The one consistent feature that goes with it is a feeling of extreme fatigue nearly identical to when I'm about to have an oral herpes outbreak.  When this condition is "active" it occurs immediately after I drink my daily cup of coffee in the morning, however I drink a cup of coffee every morning and more often that not I do not have loose stools.   When it  is bad I may have loose stools all through the day for several day and at one time I kept extra underware and slacks in my car for emergencies.  Usually though, it is just one or two episodes in the morning after I drink coffee.  It will typically continue like this for 2-3 days and then will disappear for weeks to months only to pop up again for no apparent reason. Does this sound like irritable bowel syndrome?

You should probably have some testing done to see if this is IBS or something else.  It could be an allergy.

I haven't had any testing done.  It doesn't usually cause me a lot of problems.  I've sometimes wondered if it might be some type of allergy.
