My mom is 75 years old and has been healthy except for high blood pressure and cholesterol.
In the last month she has been feeling really sick.. we have gone to the emergency room 4 times and they can't find anything for certain.. she is having a GI test her this Monday.
The symptoms are the following:
On one hand she feels an overpowering anxiety, but the one that brings me to this forum is that anything that goes down food wise, even water sometimes, .. activates a debilitating sensation of needing to "burp" or let air out.
She keeps doing the belching / burping motions and eventually she is able to "sigh".. she literally cant have a "sigh of relief".. She cries and keeps saying "help me" but we don't know what to do.. apparently neither do the doctors.. the doctors (when in emergency) do the whole battery of tests and she comes out fine.. is not that she is not able to breathe (as in she stops breathing) but she feels this bulge in her chest that just doesn't come out as if she has a bulk of air stuck in there.. she cant sleep, she cant eat (she is scared of feeling that feeling) and has lost 16 pounds..
She does not have a primary care physician, basically has a doctor do her check ups once every 6 months.
So now we are all confused and scared..
Might this be symptoms of some digestive condition..
Thanks
