70 year old Mom...Cirrhosis

My mom is 70 years old and NOT a drinker she was told yesterday she has Cirrhosis of Liver and they want to test her for Hep...how is it possible that this could have happen? could it lay dormate? Doctor told us she has had it for several years. Please if any one has adivse I could really use some in put.
Let me give you a little back ground I have two brothers who have Hep one of them has both Cirrhosis and Hep. My brothers have both spent time in jail the one who has both Hep & Cirrhosis has it because he is a drug additct & alcoholic. Could she have contracted it from either of them???

Thank you, Mammo for the information. YES it is sickining to me also and I was thinking the same thing she just dont want to believe that tho.

Hepatitis is very contagious.  If someone with hepatitis touched a table and you scrubbed it down with hot soapy water and then alcohol, the hepatitis bacteria would still be there.  Hepatitis damages the liver, leading to cirrhosis of the liver. I don't want to judge, but I feel it's most likely your mom was infected by one of your brothers.  This is sad, and I wish you all the best.
