pain under rib cage

I have had a sharp pain under my rib cage, right side.  It feels like a leg cramp, but under the rib cage, and locks me up pretty good for about 5-10 minutes.  On occasion, it feels like a spasm in that it twitches.  It happens about 1-2 times a month, usually when I am holding my child or bending over.  Any ideas?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi there,
From your symptoms it seems that you are suffering from some inflammation of the ribs which can be due to any infection.Other causes could be any respiratory infection, pleurisy, nerve entrapment etc. Gall bladder disease symptoms are steady gnawing pain in the upper right abdomen near the rib cage, which can be severe and can radiate to the upper back. Reflux disease, ulcerative colitis, diverticulitis, H pylori infection are few other causes of your symptoms. Few patients with biliary colic may have pain behind the breast bone, nausea, vomiting etc. Ultrasound or other imaging techniques can usually detect gallstones. You may take  nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications such as ibuprofen or  naproxen. A personal history and physical examination form mainstay of diagnosis. Hope it helps.
Best wishes and regards!

I had my gallbladder removed 8 years ago. I still have terrible pain under my right breast into my ribs. Sometimes it feels like something is rolling there. Sometimes it feels numb. If I push in on it sometimes that helps. I'm absolutely miserable. The more I move the worse it hurts. I've been to numerous doctors who say they can't help me & they just send me so someone else. Can you please help me?
