sick after eating

Hi, for a few years now my Husband gets is sick at night when he goes to bed.  He blames certain foods that cause it and trys to avoid those foods, such as nuts, potatoe skins....foods that have like a bitty texture to them.  But sometimes he is sick from what I would call safe foods, like last night.  He had roast potatoes, chicken and peas yet he was sick again.  It always happens while he is asleep and starts of with him choking like the food is coming back up, then he is sick.  He won't go to the doctors which frustrates me.  Any ideas?

The Doc told me to not eat after six or five hours before going to bed.

I have no clue what would cause that, but I would advise him strongly to go to the Dr. If he doesn't wake up some night he could choke to death. Hopefully someone else here will have some clue. Good luck
