I also have a lazy colon. I have had all kinds of tests run and everything comes back negative. I recently had a biofeedback test for the colon, and they said that my muscles are weak. They gave me exercises to do everyday. I read an article on the internet about biofeedback exercises for the colon it said that it could take months to before my colon works properly. I have had this problem for three years now so I understand your problem.
If you live in a small town you will probably have to go to a big city.
I live in Ohio and I had to go to Columbus to have my test run.
My insurance company did not pay for the test they said it is considered experimental.
However, you can go to google and type in biofeedback exercise for the colon and different website will come up. I found one that will tell you how to do exercises for the colon but I forgot to write down the website.
I hope that you check it out.

I think that you should keep taking the laxative if it's working for ya. I'm not sure about the weight gain, because when I had slow transit constipation, I lost over 50 lbs.
