uncomfortable bloating

I'm thankful that I found this board, I considered going on yahoo answers but thought I maybe flagged, well here it goes.

I tend to have multiple bowel movements, more so when I'm out and about like school or work. I went to the restroom twice and 1 hour today before I ate anything. Ive had gas for awhile and I find it difficult to sit in a quiet room "classroom" for more than an hour because I have to pass gas. So I periodically get up and leave the class just to do that in the hallway and come back into the room.

When I'm riding the bus to school and I'm sitting down. I always have that feeling that I have to pass gas or worse..Not to be nasty lol but you know the feeling you get when you have to pass gas I have that feeling a lot and sometimes I don't even have to do anything.

I have social anxiety, and I'm wondering if that could be a factor. Obviously Im more comfortable at home but when I'm not i go through hell, and its so embarrassing. is it normal to have multiple bowel movements everyday.

A few years back I had a hiatal hernia and I believe gerd, what can I take to help myself it affecting me.

You're welcome, and I'm glad you are trying to pursue professional help on this.  A GI doctor would probably be the best choice, if you can get to one.

Have you been diagnosed with IBS or irritable bowel syndrome?  You should have a doctor diagnose to be sure what it is.  I once heard someone recommend peptobismol for smelly gas, but I don't know if it helps.  Are you taking metamucil daily?  Anxiety can make your bowels more active, even cause diarrhea if you have a high enough level of anxiety. Have you read up on getting sufficient magnesium and eating the right kinds of fiber for your symptoms?  Have you tried vitamin B 50 time releas over the counter to see if it helps your nerves?
