I also have ribbon shaped stools.  I just had a colonoscopy and it was caused my internal hemmroids.  Go see a gastro doctor to be sure!

Typically ribbon-shaped stools can be caused by bowel spasms or bowel obstruction. If this is something you're experiencing, check with your doctor.
