IBS or not?

Hi i am a 24 yr old male i have had toiler problems most of my life such as constipation/diahrea etc but over the past few months things were gettig worse like i am havinv to go more and more to the toilet and each time its diff one time will be diareah or another time constipation or a bit of both but also lately there jas been an exstensive amount of mucus along with my poo sometimes mucus is all that comes out also what also got worse is the noises my stomach makes are loud and constant sometimes. Now i went to my doc about this and he said its IBS and that my anxiety over it is making it worse because i do get panic attacks and all coz of it. My question is could that be true or could i have done internal damage somehow because of the mucus my bottem is pretty mucb constantly itchy so i always rub and scratch down rthere and not sure if my finger went inside or not i did exsperiment with anal masturbation a few months back coz a friend told me how to do it but i never actually got myfinger inside just mainly alot of rubbing on the outside would i have caused any damage to my self that is causing these toilet issues or is it really just all in my head

your symptoms do sound like IBS and yes if ur more stressed or anxious it can make the symptoms worse. thats what im like. bare in mind that going to the loo up to 3 times a day is within normal limits and docs actually only class it as diarrhoea if u go 6 or more times a day!
the only thing u might wanna check out is that if its itchy check it isnt a fungal infection. is it red and itchy? with IBS u usually just pass abit of mucus with the stools, it shouldnt be around ur bum when ur not passing stools.
i shouldnt imagine itd be anything else other than those 2 things though
