FYI: False Positive Drug Test Levels
Hello, I am a RN and was reading an article just this morning that I was not aware of, and wanted to bring to everyone's attention.
An Indiana woman who recently delivered a baby was drug tested afterwards, and had her baby taken away because the test was positive for Opiates.
After further investigation by the State the baby was returned because the positive drug test results were in fact a false positive which stemmed from the woman ingesting a poppy seed bagel prior to her delivery.
It has been determined that ingesting Poppy Seeds in any form can in fact cause a person to show a positive drug test for Opiates. I posted this because I wasn't aware of this, found it very interesting, and thought there may be more of you out there who is also not aware.
