Got puppy poop all over my hand

We have a new puppy. We got her 3 weeks ago. She had been tested (negative) for parasites/ worms but was wormed anyhow.  When we took her in for her booster shots, she was wormed again.  At the next visit, wormed again. She's parasite free and had all her shots and is now about 12 or 14 weeks old.

Hubby was home with her when I went to church last night and didn't walk her.  Today I was moving a baby gate and got a handful of dried and mushy poop from where she'd pooped behind the gate he'd put aside.  I cleaned it up with an old rag and antibacterial soap, washed my hands numerous times, cleaned under my nails twice and used an aersol surgical scrub I had from a surgery and it will kill MRSA in 5 seconds.

STILL worried about this!  No cuts or open spots on my hand and I'm positive the puppy is healthy after all her doc visits and shots.

you should be ok.  did you see anything in her poop that alarmed you?  Just keep a watch on yourself but you did eveything right about the soap and  immediately.  dont think you will have any problems if it bothers you too much call you vet and ask him.  he should have a lot of experience in this.  mandy876

Relax Diane.  I work in healthcare and I wish all the caregivers there were as concerned about their health (and others') as you are.  If you know the puppy is free of parasites and any other thing that she can be immunized for, then you are just dealing with the GROSS factor.  Those things will happen and will not compromise your health, unless you fail to wash & then put your fingers in your mouth!  Give puppy a hug for me!

Keep your hands out of your mouth and wash them.  Next time wear gloves; buy disposable gloves for this.

If you are worried about intestinal parasites, you could go to a supplement store like GNC and get a preparation with wormwood and walnut hulls to take to kill parasites.  You could have parasites already; it's not terribly uncommon.
